Latest Freedom2Choose Programme Announced
Good Mental Health is the theme the latest Freedom2Choose Programme which runs from 15 September to 15 December 2018.
At Autonomie, we are committed to promoting positive mental health in young people living with disabilities and this practical and fun social activities programme offers young people a chance to have new experiences, meet new people and be part of a community.
What Next? Programme runs every Wednesday and Thursday
What Next? Programme starts back today (Wednesday 25th of July) and and runs every Wednesday and Thursday.
Suitable for young people aged between 16 and 25 living with physical disabilities and mild/moderate learning disabilities, this activities programme will offer participants a chance to develop life skills, have new experiences, build friendships and more!
Designed to promote positive mental health, What Next? delivers fun-packed activities every Wednesday and Thursday at Finaghy Youth Centre, Belfast, 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.
Day two of What Next Programme promotes positive mental health
Day two of the What Next? Programme took place on Thursday 5th of July, and to make sure everyone was awake and ready to face a new day, we did some gentle aerobic exercises to promote positive mental health. Following this, participants took part in a session on what we feel is the most important thing about ourselves; what is important to us; what annoys us and how we should consider other people before we react or speak.
What Next? Programme launches with Drakes Music session
Day 1 of our new What Next? Programme took place on 4th July 2018 with Nikos & Daniel from Drakes Music who taught participants about rhythm and how it's around in a lot of things we do in life.
The session gave young people a chance to play the mandarin alongside background musical effects!
Participants also did some sessions on being aware of ourselves and the people around us!
Boys' Sleepover at Lilac House as part of What Next? Independent Living Programme
On Friday 15 June we hosted a Lilac House Sleepover!
Young people Gary and Malcolm took part in the Independent Living Experience at centre. The experience was facilitated with the support of two specialised facilitators and is part of the What Next? Independent Living Programme. This programme helps young people transition more successfully into adult life and their own housing.
As part of the experience, the young people enjoyed a Boys' Night Out at the Odyssey Complex, Belfast.
