Celebrating Autonomie women carers and sisters on International Women’s Day
This International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the achievements of women. The day also makes a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
To all the women and girl carers who are raising a child or young person with additional needs, we say thank you.
Thank you for your selflessness and devotion. Thank you for your determination to break down barriers for a more equal and inclusive society for your child and for all children and young people with additional needs.
We understand it’s not always easy being a carer especially in recent times and today and everyday at Autonomie we say thank you for leading the way and supporting your family.
Each day continue to celebrate the small wins.

A message to parent carers this Children’s Mental Health Week
It’s Children’s Mental Health Week and Lynne Morrison, Autonomie Chief Officer has this message for parents raising a child or young person with additional needs:
“As a parent or carer, when you look after yourself you are looking after your child or young person too.
“Being a parent carer in this climate can be extra challenging. The Covid pandemic has meant having to continually adapt to new ways of living and learning, and there is nothing more difficult than seeing your child or young person struggle. But every day you keep going and doing your best, often without recognition. You should be proud of yourself.”
