Join us in congratulating staff member Naomi McAleese who has been utilising her time through the lockdown to enhance her skills through training and development.

As well as having completed 3 online courses with Open University, Naomi has been awarded ‘Introducing British Sign Language’ certificate following her successful completion of the online course.

Congratulating Naomi, Lynne Morrison, Chief Officer at Autonomie said:

“Some of our service users rely on visual cues for effective communication, including facial expressions and lip-reading.

“These young people will be impeded by the wearing of face coverings due to Covid-19 and has the potential to create further isolation, stress and anxiety. “As an organisation we are committed to tackling barriers young people with additional needs face.

“Learning new ways to communicate effectively with young people who rely on lip-reading is one way we are doing this. “I would like to congratulate Naomi on successful completion of this comprehensive BSL online course whilst working from home during the lockdown.

”Thank you for your dedication and commitment helping us empower vulnerable young people.”
