FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

Job Role: FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

Salary: £13,000

Hours per week: 25:00

Responsibility to: FAMILY HUB COORDINATOR

Based at: Lilac House, 4 Sandhurst Road, Belfast

3-year contract subject to 6 -month probation and to funding conditions.

Main purpose of Job: 

The post holder will be responsible for providing:

1.    Delivery of practical and emotional support to families/siblings of a child or young person with additional needs.

2.    Facilitating workshops and guest speakers relevant to the needs of the families/siblings.

3.    Support and signpost families/siblings in meeting with other appropriate agencies.

4.    Proactively engage with ‘hard to reach’ parents by providing clear and identifiable benefits available from the Family Voice Hub.

5.    Assist in providing a welcoming, safe, and confidential environment for families/siblings to network.

6.    Work in partnership with parents to support them with practical tasks.  These could include:

a)    Form Filling

b)    Making appointments for advice or other agencies services

c)    Supporting parents individually and in groups

d)    Identifying relevant people to advise on specific needs

7.    Undertake relevant training identified by line manager or management, to attend all Family Voice Hub events, staff meetings and development events.

8.    Work in line with Autonomies’ policies and procedures

9.    Undertake any other duties which may be needed by the Organisation or project.

10. Adhere to current guidance in respect to Covid=19.
